“Watching a piece of KTN choreography is like walking through a maze of ideas, emotions, and conversations. She creates work that makes you search the stage for answers while being intrigued by small moments of intricacy and overjoyed by unexpected bursts of energy. The audience cannot help but be fully committed to her vision and follow along on the journey she creates. Then somehow when you think it’s over but are still longing for a little more, she inserts time for a moment of thought, and then throws the answer right at you and somehow ties up all loose ends in one count of eight. Brilliant!"
- Casey Noblett, Director and Founder of Commercial Dance Intensive“Kassandra Taylor Newberry is a visionary storyteller who crafts specific, detailed movement—technical dance fully immersed in character. Her work transcends modern expectations of contemporary ballet, taking story theatre out of shallow gesture to a higher level rich in authenticity, through-line, and progressive thought. Kassandra’s movement has meaning.”
- Adam Cates, Broadway Artist & Producer, Education & Development Director for Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts“What a choreographic voice I just witnessed; I can’t believe the clarity and passion. I must say I am so envious of the talented voice this young lady has, I wish I had half of the tricks up my choreographic sleeve that Mrs. Newberry has.”
- Jonathan Phelps, Adjudicator for RDA“A tour de force with an innovative choreographic style.”
- Richard Rein for “Conversion”“Kassandra Taylor Newberry is one of my very favorite choreographers to date! We are fortunate to have her in our southeast region for RDA companies! I have been watching RDA programming for the past 30 years and Kassandra’s work always stands out with so much creativity, quality and excellence! She inspires me every time I see her work! She not only puts together a brilliant piece, but she challenges the dancers to be their best and grow to their fullest potential while exploring the process together. Kassandra is one of the greatest examples of a mentor I could ever expose my dancers to and I am so thankful for the times we have been able to have her in Alabama.”
- Ashlie Wells, Director Southeast Alabama Dance Company"Kassandra Taylor Newberry is a generational choreographer. When she is setting her choreography on dancers, it is more like a journey or an experience. From the beginning of the process until the end, she embeds her vision clearly in the dancers. They become the piece, the vision. Always leaving the audience wanting more. Each piece has a different emotion that you are left with, awe, laughter, tears or dancing in your seat kind of joy! All in all, she is a genius! "
- Shelley Grames-Artistic Director of Atlanta Dance Theatre"Kassandra Taylor Newberry is a prolific choreographer. She has a wellspring of ideas born from her observations of life and her imagination. As a result, she creates artistic dance works that emotionally connect with her audience. Kassandra is a professional in every facet of her choreographic vision. She inspires dancers to dance beyond what they thought possible, and her eye for costumes and lighting is outstanding. Kassandra's works are more than beautiful movements; her art is an experience to remember."
- Armando Luna, Adjudicator for RDA“Kassandra Taylor Newberry’s work craftfully combines athleticism with theatricality. Her work is imbued with quirky gestural phrases that take you on an unexpected and delightful journey. She is a master at thoughtfully crafting works that suspend one’s disbelief and engage the viewer in a way that makes them feel they are included in the work. Her expansive use of space combined with intricate and punctuated musicality provides the perfect contrast that leaves the viewer satisfied, on their feet, and wanting more.”
- Gia Mongell Binner, Broadway Artist & Former Lincoln Center Dance Educator“Unusual, stylized movement combined well-designed groupings into intriguing spatial formations…Mrs. Newberry succeeded in doing what choreographers are supposed to do-make a company look an entire level higher than it is.”
- Leslie Jane Pessemier, Adjudicator for RDA“Kassandra Taylor Newberry has shown exceptional talent as a choreographer and her works have been nationally recognized. She is an asset to any company or organization.”
